Historic Courthouse 1893 Wedding - Mattie & Ryan

Some weddings are beautiful because of the details.

Others are beautiful because of the meaning behind those details.

Mattie and Ryan's Historic Courthouse 1893 wedding was both.

From heirloom-inspired accessories and meaningful family keepsakes to handwritten notes that dated back to high school, every part of their wedding reflected the story they had built together over the years.

A Love Story That Began in High School Band

Mattie and Ryan first met while playing in high school band. Like so many great love stories, life eventually took them in different directions before bringing them back together years later.

One of the sweetest reminders of where it all began? Mattie still has the notes they used to pass back and forth during band practice.

It's those kinds of details that made their wedding feel deeply personal from beginning to end.

Thoughtful Vintage Details with a Story

Mattie has an incredible eye for vintage treasures.

She spent months thrifting and visiting estate sales to collect meaningful pieces that became part of the wedding day. Some of her attire, her getting ready robe, the bridesmaids' purses, and even the brooches worn by Ryan and both fathers were carefully collected over time. Rather than traditional boutonnieres, the vintage brooches became a unique and memorable detail that perfectly complemented the overall design.

She also incorporated several vintage heirlooms into her flat lay photographs, creating timeless images that felt completely authentic to their day.

One of the most meaningful details was hidden in her wedding dress. The floral appliqués on the back were made from her mother's wedding gown, allowing her to carry a piece of family history with her as she walked down the aisle.

These weren't details added just for aesthetics. They each told part of Mattie and Ryan's story.

A Quiet Moment Before "I Do"

Before the ceremony, Mattie and Ryan shared a private first look followed by personal vows.

Taking a few quiet moments together before the celebration began gave them the opportunity to slow down, exchange meaningful words, and soak in the significance of the day before family and friends joined them.

It was one of many moments that made the celebration feel intentional rather than rushed.

Married at Historic Courthouse 1893

Historic Courthouse 1893 provided the perfect setting for their timeless celebration.

After exchanging vows, the newlyweds shared their first kiss as their guests cheered before making their joyful walk back down the aisle together.

The courthouse also served as a beautiful backdrop for portraits with their wedding party and newlywed photos, highlighting the historic architecture while allowing the focus to remain on Mattie and Ryan.

Sweet Surprises Throughout the Day

There were thoughtful surprises woven throughout the celebration.

Ryan gifted Mattie an adorable Build-A-Bear dressed in a tiny tuxedo, a playful keepsake that perfectly reflected their personalities.

Later that evening, they skipped the traditional cake cutting in favor of a champagne tower. After making their grand entrance into the reception, they poured the tower together before celebrating with a toast alongside their wedding party and guests.

It was a fun twist on a classic wedding tradition and created an unforgettable reception moment.

Ending the Night with Celebration

As the dance floor filled, Mattie and Ryan fully embraced the celebration.

At one point, they even climbed into the DJ booth, keeping the energy high and making memories with the people who had gathered to celebrate alongside them.

It was the perfect ending to a day that felt joyful, personal, and unmistakably them.

Congratulations, Mattie and Ryan! Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness together!

And thank you to Mattie for this kind review!

Krista was our wedding planner and day of coordinator, and my husband and I truly could not have done it without her!! She is a wonderful team member to other vendors in the area; it was comforting to see already established rapport and genuine relations between her and our other vendors. Krista answered so many of my maybe silly questions throughout the planning process as my husband and I are very new to the wedding scene even as guests or standing in on one! So, we truly learned a lot from her as well as were comforted in her guiding us in finding what traditions were for us. Krista’s planning tools were incredibly helpful, easy to follow, and kept us on task and organized. Krista also did so much behind the scenes planning wise and wedding day that may have gone unnoticed in the moment but looking back we know how much she contributed to bringing everything and everyone together. We are forever grateful!
