Ryan and Joe’s June wedding at The Ivy House in Milwaukee was the perfect start-of-summer celebration. With beautiful weather, a lush green setting, and a day that moved seamlessly from an indoor ceremony to cocktails and dancing on the patio, their wedding made the most of everything we love about this venue.
Our team worked with Ryan and Joe through our Full Planning package, with Krista and Sarah there to bring all of the details together on the wedding day.
Getting Ready for a Summer Wedding in Milwaukee
Wedding days always come with a few unexpected moments, and Ryan and Joe’s was no exception. Just before it was time to leave for photos, the loop on the clasp of Ryan’s dress broke. Krista quickly stepped in and literally sewed Ryan into her dress so everyone could stay on schedule.
The group hopped on a trolley for photos around Milwaukee, adding another fun element to the afternoon. The bridesmaids wore green dresses in a mix of colors and patterns, while Joe wore black and the groomsmen opted for khaki suits that felt perfect for a June wedding.
A Lush Ceremony at The Ivy House
We always love working at The Ivy House, and somehow the venue gets even better every year as the ivy continues to grow in. By June, the greenery was so lush that it almost felt like being in a jungle!
Ryan and Joe held their ceremony indoors, with a string trio providing music as guests arrived and throughout the ceremony. The trio continued playing during cocktail hour, which moved outside to the patio thanks to the absolutely perfect weather.
The patio became a major part of the guest experience throughout the day. After cocktail hour outside, everyone headed back indoors for the reception before returning to the patio later in the evening for dancing.
Personal Details Throughout the Reception
Ryan and Joe met while attending medical school, and their wedding was filled with details that felt personal to the two of them.
Guests could leave messages through an audio guestbook, while their dog Penny was included in the celebration through a photo at the reception and on the custom can koozies. Even the cake tied into the venue itself. “Til Death” was written across the top, a fun nod to The Ivy House’s recognizable “Til Death” sign.
Later in the evening, Ryan changed into a reception dress before heading back out to celebrate. Joe’s reaction made it very clear the second look was a hit!
With dancing outside on the patio and beautiful June weather lasting throughout the evening, it was the kind of wedding day that allowed everyone to truly enjoy each part of the celebration.
Full-Service Wedding Planning at The Ivy House
Ryan was incredibly organized and on top of the planning process from the beginning, which always makes collaboration with our team that much easier. Between that preparation and our team managing the moving pieces behind the scenes, the entire day ran smoothly, including the little hiccups Ryan never needed to worry about.
After the wedding, Ryan shared:
“Krista was a huge part of why our wedding day was such a success. She was with us from the start and made the whole process organized and easy. There was a checklist for everything! She had excellent recommendations for us for vendors but was flexible when we brought our own ideas to the table. On the day of our wedding, she took care of any hiccups along the way, and I didn't even know about most of them because she handled it all so professionally and discreetly. She even went above and beyond by literally sewing the top of my dress closed after the clasp broke right before leaving to take pictures! My family and bridal party all commented on how glad they were that we were working with Krista and her team because of how much easier and stress free they made our wedding day. We could not have done this without her!”
That is exactly what we want Full Planning to feel like. There is plenty of preparation leading up to the wedding, but when the day finally arrives, our couples should be able to enjoy it while we handle everything happening behind the scenes.
Congratulations, Ryan and Joe! Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness together!
