Some wedding days have a way of surprising you.
Not because something goes wrong, but because there are little moments woven throughout the day that guests don’t expect. Jaime and Nathan's Ozaukee Country Club wedding was full of those moments.
The day began with a first look and private vows, giving them a chance to slow down and spend a few quiet moments together before everything officially began. Before the ceremony, before the celebration, before the schedule took over. Just the two of them sharing words that were meant only for each other.
They later exchanged vows during a traditional Catholic ceremony surrounded by family and friends before heading into the celebration at Ozaukee Country Club.
Spring had fully arrived, and the florals reflected it. Bright, colorful blooms brought so much life to the day, adding cheerful pops of color throughout both the ceremony and reception spaces. It felt fresh, vibrant, and perfectly suited for an early May wedding.
One of the most memorable parts of the celebration came from the timing. Their wedding happened to fall on the same day as the Kentucky Derby, and rather than competing with it, they embraced it.
During cocktail hour, guests gathered around to watch the race while sipping Mint Juleps, the couple's signature cocktail for the evening. Betting sheets were placed at the bar, giving everyone a chance to predict the winner before the race began. It was an unexpected detail that immediately became a conversation starter and added an extra layer of fun to the celebration.
The evening continued with dinner, toasts, and a packed dance floor, but the biggest surprise was still waiting.
As guests enjoyed the reception, everyone was invited outside for what they thought would be a quick transition before returning to the party. Instead, they were treated to a fireworks display that lit up the night sky. It was completely unexpected for many of their guests and quickly became one of those moments people will talk about long after the wedding day.
From private vows in the morning to fireworks at night, Jaime and Nathan's wedding felt like a celebration that balanced meaningful moments with plenty of fun. Thoughtful, personal, and full of surprises, it was a beautiful way to begin married life together.
Cheers to the newlyweds!
