Molly & Mitch’s wedding day was filled with thoughtful details, meaningful moments with family, and the kind of weather that felt like a bonus gift. For a fall wedding in Wisconsin, we were expecting cooler temperatures, but instead the day surprised us with sunshine and temperatures in the 80's, truly unseasonably warm! It ended up being the perfect evening for an outdoor celebration.
The couple chose to start their day with a first look and private vows. Taking a few minutes together before the ceremony allowed them to slow down and enjoy a quiet moment before the festivities began. These private exchanges are always one of our favorite parts of a wedding day. They allow couples to focus on each other without the pressure of an audience.
One of the most special parts of the ceremony was that Mitch’s father served as the officiant. Having a family member lead the ceremony always adds such a personal element and makes the moment even more meaningful for everyone involved. The ceremony also included a unique layout: the couple stood on opposite sides so their families could see their faces throughout the ceremony. It’s a simple change that made a big impact for guests.
In another non-traditional choice, the wedding party did not process or stand during the ceremony. This kept the focus entirely on the couple and created a relaxed, intimate atmosphere.
Guests were welcomed to the ceremony with champagne and Spotted Cow as they arrived, a fun and very Wisconsin way to start the celebration! Following the ceremony, cocktail hour featured live violin music performed by the DJ, which created a beautiful and elegant ambiance while guests mingled.
One of the standout aspects of this wedding was the number of custom pieces created by the bride’s brother-in-law. He handcrafted several decor elements for the day, including the welcome sign, seating chart, table number holders, corn hole set, and the stands used to display the ceremony and sweetheart table florals. These personal touches not only looked beautiful but also made the celebration feel extra special.
Another fun detail guests loved were the custom M&Ms placed on the guest tables featuring the couple’s initials which was a sweet (and very on-theme) surprise.
As the evening continued, the celebration moved outdoors where guests enjoyed dancing under the warm night sky. Some guests gathered around the fire table while others spent the evening on the dance floor, creating a relaxed outdoor party atmosphere that perfectly matched the beautiful weather.
The couple also chose to incorporate a few private moments throughout the evening. They shared a private cake cutting, allowing them to enjoy the moment together without the crowd watching. At the end of the night, they also had a private last dance which gave them one final quiet moment together before the celebration officially ended.
It was a truly special day full of personal details, thoughtful choices, and joyful moments with family and friends. From the handmade decor to the warm evening of outdoor dancing, every part of the celebration felt uniquely like Molly and Mitch.
