What happens when you team up two innovative and driven business owners? Melissa Bucci, owner of Bucci’s Bridal in Pewaukee, and I have become great friends over the last few years and we love collaborating on different projects. You get the two of us together and we are always coming up with new ideas. And that is exactly what happened about a year and half ago when we came up with this big project.

Together we planned Piece of Cake! 5K, which is the first and only bridal themed 5K fun run/walk in Wisconsin. Our goal was to create a unique experience for engaged couples to enjoy with their friends and family and we got to combine our passions for weddings and fitness into one event. And the best part…..CAKE! After the race, each runner received a cupcake from Yield Bakehouse along with a champagne toast from Pour Inc.

The event took place at the beautiful Frame Park in Waukesha and the course was almost two full laps around the pond.

Melissa Maas, owner of Bank of Flowers, handed out flowers to each runner as they crossed the finish line. She even made a beautiful bouquet for the winning bride.

EZPZ Marquee brought their handcrafted marquee letters, which are a great personal touch for any event. Their largest size is 48” tall!

The runners enjoyed the Photobooth provided by Shutterbooth and of course we did have some healthy snacks (provided by Pick ‘n Save in Grafton) too.

The ladies from The Body Boutique in Brookfield organized a pre-run warm up and stood along the course to cheer on the runners.

We had a raffle drawing for some really great prizes, including hotel stays, restaurant gift certificates, free tux rentals, gift baskets, and even a free wedding dress!

Some runners and teams really got creative with their outfits.

The proceeds of this event were donated to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, because kids deserve the best!
